draweverywhere always asks me, "What are you drawing?" - I love this question. He texts it to me or messages me somehow on a pretty regular basis. I love the prompt, the inquiry, the intent.
I'm doodling lately. I've been reduced to doodling. In meetings 24/7 so I just fill up sketchbooks with decreasingly attractive lazy sketches. That's the thing about drawing, everyone can do it. It's just that trying to do it is like lifting a heavy weight, it doesn't just pour out if you don't practice. It takes a lot of your concentration.
If you don't draw, has anyone explicitly told you this? I feel like the little subtle things make all the difference and people all too often tell you to do things like "draw" but they don't give you the little insights that actually make it possible for you to start. For example, if you look at something across the room no matter what it is and begin to sketch it, if you concentrate really hard on how it looks, and try really hard to represent it on paper: YOU WILL. It will be charming. You should do that. And if you keep doing that, eventually you perceive it better. That's the practice. Plus, you can read up on it when you get curious to compound the knowledge.
So, I need to step up my game and stop drawing lazy sketches and actually concentrate. Meanwhile...

Deviation Actions
A human-generated-only art community seems very meaningful now. And more so with time.
The new # Daily Challenges are really excellent, I love seeing challenges come back. But it's even better that they elegantly promote our hashtags. Well done @HQ !! No one will see this post though, as Posts continue to feel buried. A loose end, something I didn't push on hard enough before leaving. A reasonable solution was to have a default option for a deviants most recent journal to show up on all of their deviation pages. This would create a little "Web-ring" of traffic for the journal, based on interest in deviations. Deviations are always primary at DA, so Posts (which are secondary) need these types of boosts to balance out their exposure. I also think that user avatars should sparkle (like people with Instagram stories) for the first 3 days after a journal is posted. Allowing you to see what a person has to say when you click on the ID card. Little things like that make a big difference. Meanwhile, I hope you've all been well. It's chaotic out there, wear your rain
