Description

(Only titled Big Bang cuz I was watching Big Bang Theory the whole time I was drawing.)

This took me about 6 hours, made exclusively on my new Wacom Cintiq Android tablet which I highly recommend as the most awesome digital drawing device in existence.

This piece effectively represents where I am with my drawings. I love to draw female faces, usually with a lot of color exploration in the process. If I buy art, I buy exactly this kind of art work and I study the faces. I used a few references for this, but this was a freeform drawing. The reference helped me with shadows and perspective and the general character I wanted to capture.

The result isn't exactly what I set out to do, which I'm frustrated by. I'm finding when drawing female faces that the hardest aspect to capture is "youth" -- as was accurately pointed out by o-KOUKLA-o

I've been drawing every day for a few years now. This is the first time I've felt comfortable posting anything on deviantART with my spyed account. Yes, I have another one. No, I won't tell you what it is. :)

I'm working really hard, but I have a long way to go. What do you think?

Since this is my first post of a drawing:

I wanted to specifically thank mudimba and deviantART Muro for the encouragement. When deviantART began building Muro, it's because we had built a small drawing space for a valentine's day contest. Since it was a small drawing canvas (literally like a box, not your whole screen), I just wanted it to be a full sized canvas..... mudimba  began to work on what would become Muro, and I started testing Muro each week to evaluate progress. The tests got longer and longer, as I started drawing more and more. And my conversations with mudimba about what would make Muro a better drawing tool created a strong need for me to draw... even though this deviantART CEO thing keeps me pretty darn busy, which is the only reason I haven't been drawing all this time in the first place.

Since then, I've incorporated drawing into my work day. I unapologetically draw during almost every meeting. This can irritate people, but it was the only place where I could make time. My notebooks, notepads, etc. are littered with sketches, drawings, various practices.

Eventually mudimba introduced me to his long time friend draweverywhere (Forest Stearns) -- Forest's art and passion for creativity got me addicted in a whole new way.. and I began to draw everywhere, every day.

Thank you, Forest, for the gift of thirst to explore, the understanding of how important Practice really is, for being incredibly encouraging, and for being a teacher. I'm happier in life, more aware of my surroundings and my emotions, and more fulfilled in a variety of ways that I directly attribute to drawing.

I'm so incredibly thankful to be able to participate in the deviantART Community in a whole new way.

Cheers, and uhh.. I hope you like my first piece!
