Enjoying reading the responses to the launch article of our previous version, v7.…
Seems like the Watch Feed has replaced the term "Activity Feed" --

This term is a bit clearer. The DeviantArt Message Center contains original Watch and is commonly referred to as the Watch List.

Since the Watch Feed is derived from the people that you +Watch, it is a bit clearer now that as a result of a +Watch, you have access to a Watch List and a Watch Feed.

The Watch Feed mirrors the Watch environment you will have access to from your still unreleased DeviantArt Mobile App. This is the primary reason we built and released a Watch Feed.

I hope this helps clear that up. Marketing will be informing you of this change more formally soon.

I have the privilege of making the ultimate day-to-day decisions on deviantART in my acting position as Chief Executive Officer. I Co-Founded deviantART in April of 2000 with jark along with a founding team of individuals including matteo most of whom joined around launch in August. Honorary founding team members include: mccann, chris and spot.

I've had a passion for building online communities since my addiction to game BBS's (doom, doom 2, heretic, hexen, etc.) when I was 12. I co-sysop'd the Netherworld BBS in Northern Virginia at that time (till I was 15) and fell in love with the possibilities; especially as they applied to a global community. deviantART mirrors many aspects of BBS's and as time progresses you will find even closer comparisons to the quality of community MajorBBS and other platforms were able to support. Of course, most of you have no idea what I'm talking about when I say BBS's. Ugh.

I've now spent more than half my life building online communities. Seeking to deliver a mainstream application that captures the depth and passion that I felt for BBS's in my youth youth, rather than my now youth. :D

I'm very proud of the success of deviantART. Especially the fact that we took the road less traveled and arrived a little later, but on our own pure and untainted terms. We're doing it our way.

And that ladies and gentlemen ... feels like a milli-millillion dollars.

Before you read about the future, read about the past. And I think with a past like that and a team like this, it is a bright future indeed.

It is our intention to create the most powerful outlet in the world for known and unknown artists alike.

Most importantly we intend to take our time to do it right. For the first time in history there is connection and communication between artists and fans on a massive scale. deviantART represents a breakthrough for the promotion and exposure of otherwise stranded artists in all corners of the globe. Our job is to make sense of the possibility, and craft it in a responsible manner.

And that's what I'm here to do along with the strong team we've assembled here at deviantART; until the job is done.

(If you have something real and tangible to propose that may help deviantART in one way or another; Feel free to send me a note. I read every note even if I don't respond. Forgive me on the responses, there are thousands of notes!)

AduroTri Featured By Owner 3 days ago  Hobbyist Writer Sadly to the people who comment on this page...they're not going to get any feedback in either a reply or anything of that nature. Because from what I can tell, Spyed and the DA staff are fairly corrupt. They may seem like they care, but in truth, they don't.

I'd like to pose a question though to the people. Once again, how fast of a warning did we get between the previous version and the current version?

Like...maybe a day's warning? That's a little better than it was between THAT version and the version BEFORE it. Where Spyed just went and released it because he was having problems.

I'll say this: I don't have a single issue with Deviantart unless they're fiddling with something over there and it causes direct problems. My internet connection is stable and it doesn't come under many DDOS attacks anymore.

RIght now, as it stands. Deviantart is nothing more than a Social Media site with just a hint of creativity.

That's all it really is. And the staff just don't get it, nor will they ever.

I may get hammered on for posting this, but while I do not like nor support the staff, I used to like this site. If it was more writer-friendly and artist friendly...or even MEMBER friendly...then I may like it more. But no, they don't give more than two fucks about us or our problems.

Spyed...if you read this message, I'd like you to personally try and get your head out of your ass. The same goes for all the remaining staff.

Please...please communicate better with the community. Help them, deal with the problems IN the community, Deal with the site issues. Listen to the people.

Yes, there are those gullible idiots that'll give you money out their own asses for the bonus features, but...they're absolutely pointless in truth.

Make it so that we don't have to follow you or the staff members to keep up with the site news either. Because its absolutely ridiculous if we don't want to follow you.

Idiots. Every single one of you.

Thank you for seeing this.

Dear Deviantart Admins/Founder who works on the site updates,

Please take the time out of your hands to read the few negative comments and use those negative comments to improve on the site. If a bunch of people are having a problem with the submissions then can you please take the time to fix those. If you block other sites because you call it spam then please inform everyone why you called another art website as spam....yes I am talking about the major spam block called "our  art  corner (dot)com" I didn't noticed this until my best friend was trying to show me her username at this account and how the art site is acting a bit more mature with people's art than here. But when I click on the link she gave me, you guys thought it would be funny to say "This site is restricted. Deviantart admins don't allow you to have access to this page." and sadly it doesn't make sense to me. So instead I had to type in the site into the html box in order to head over there and see what was all the big deal about.

To be honest the site seems like a wonderful site. You get only a certain amount of points to spend and you have each comment worth a few points. This means that you literally have to use the comment section as an advice section or a critique section. And in order to gain more points you have to rate the images based on its quality (oh and you can purchase the art from this site).

Really to me and seeing two good sites being placed back to back (a) takes itself seriously as an art website or (b) post up a few images on this site to make your portfolio for others to see and watch the site pretty quickly turn into a Facebook wanabe. If I had to choose I would pick site (a) because yea Facebook wasn't too bad but when you see other sites trying to copy the FB status then it kind of looks like a sign for desperation. Oh and the idea of not asking your members if they want to switch to the newer look or not is just plain rude.

By ignoring the concerning issues that are sent to you guys week after week and seeing other sites actually looking at your site and fixing their own site to make it more user-friendly is the main reason why over time your site is going to be slowly disappearing into the dark quiet corner of the internet where the unnoticeable sites go. So if you really want to improve your site then stop with these crappy changes that makes you look like FB and take the time out of your guys paid life to go and fix the problems that can (unchecked) cause your members and site viewers to leave due to system crash or intense amount of unfriendliness towards everyone.

Thanks for reading,
:iconwatonzon: ~Watonzon (aka. Bri)
