LA Street Art on a power box near my parking spot. Near meltdown on sunset + curson

CES was amazing... mccann and I had a great time and we even ran into a ton of our friends! I was blown away by many things: New high-end Drones (photo), some interesting wearables, neat beacon stuff (check out www.xyfindit.com/ - Large O-LED screens, etc.

Untitled by spyed
But the most awesome stuff were the advances in 3D Printing. I was impressed by Autodesk's Spark platform and their Ember 3D printer which uses "digital light stereolithography" - Technically speaking that means: It prints really intricate looking awesome stuff! spark.autodesk.com/ember

Untitled by spyed
Also this company Cubify makes a 3D scanner for $400 so you can 3D scan your friends and print them! cubify.com/en/Products/Scanner…

What do you guys think of the 3D Printing world? Should DA support artists who want to post 3D objects for printing here? Been thinking a lot about it... seems like an awesome thing to do!
I hope you all had a fantastic holiday, and that you've got 2015 off on the right foot. This is pretty important, because in many cases we all have lots to do for school, work, or life, and for many of us this takes us away from our Creative Goals! Unless ART is your profession, chances are you have to find ways to incorporate a more creative lifestyle just like you would a workout routine! We're all trying our best.

Have you made plans to incorporate more creativity into your life in 2015?

I have. I'm taking more photos and posting them regularly using the new DeviantArt Mobile App, and I'm placing my Wacom Cintiq Companion Hybrid next to the TV so that I can draw while watching mindless television. I will continue (like last year) to sketch and draw whenever I'm traveling on airplanes, or whenever I need to prepare for a logically oriented task. I recommend drawing for 15 minutes before you do your math homework! It really seems to help me before I look at spreadsheets and stuff.

What do you plan to do to lead an even more creative life in 2015?

Meanwhile, a quick photoblog from the break. Viktoria, Bentley, Royce and I Airstreaming through Arizona from California for a couple of weeks beginning December 20th through January 3rd. We planned to drive much farther, but Arizona was so nice we just hung around! We stopped in Sedona, Lake Roosevelt, Apache Lake, Canyon Lake, Lake Havasu, the Salton Sea, Joshua Tree, Phoenix, and even a crazy Hot Springs RV Resort full of nude people. :woah:

This photo is real, taken at night, no filters, straight from the camera. Joshua Tree, and our Airstream for the week!

ROLE

I have the privilege of making the ultimate day-to-day decisions on deviantART in my acting position as Chief Executive Officer. I Co-Founded deviantART in April of 2000 with jark along with a founding team of individuals including matteo most of whom joined around launch in August. Honorary founding team members include: mccann, chris and spot.

PERSON

I've had a passion for building online communities since my addiction to game BBS's (doom, doom 2, heretic, hexen, etc.) when I was 12. I co-sysop'd the Netherworld BBS in Northern Virginia at that time (till I was 15) and fell in love with the possibilities; especially as they applied to a global community. deviantART mirrors many aspects of BBS's and as time progresses you will find even closer comparisons to the quality of community MajorBBS and other platforms were able to support. Of course, most of you have no idea what I'm talking about when I say BBS's. Ugh.

I've now spent more than half my life building online communities. Seeking to deliver a mainstream application that captures the depth and passion that I felt for BBS's in my youth youth, rather than my now youth. :D

I'm very proud of the success of deviantART. Especially the fact that we took the road less traveled and arrived a little later, but on our own pure and untainted terms. We're doing it our way.

And that ladies and gentlemen ... feels like a milli-millillion dollars.

FUTURE

Before you read about the future, read about the past. And I think with a past like that and a team like this, it is a bright future indeed.

It is our intention to create the most powerful outlet in the world for known and unknown artists alike.

Most importantly we intend to take our time to do it right. For the first time in history there is connection and communication between artists and fans on a massive scale. deviantART represents a breakthrough for the promotion and exposure of otherwise stranded artists in all corners of the globe. Our job is to make sense of the possibility, and craft it in a responsible manner.

And that's what I'm here to do along with the strong team we've assembled here at deviantART; until the job is done.

(If you have something real and tangible to propose that may help deviantART in one way or another; Feel free to send me a note. I read every note even if I don't respond. Forgive me on the responses, there are thousands of notes!)

You may want to keep an eye on this group, they are accepting questionable material. artofthesea.deviantart.com
I was invited and left immediately upon the discovery of the questionable material involving digital art of minors wearing next to nothing.

Look, if it takes you such a long journal and a video to explain your shitty ass logo, you're doing it wrong.

Very unlikely they stole it. More likely it was just coincidentally similar.
